First Communion

God’s grace for us

Most of the services at St. David’s offer the Holy Eucharist, also known as the Lord’s Supper and Communion. Anyone who is baptized is welcome to receive communion, but we also have the tradition of children taking their “first communion” somewhere between the ages of 7-10, usually at the discretion of their parents. Before their First Communion, students are offered a fun day of instruction, bread baking, and conversation about the holy gift we receive at the altar.

We like to think of this as helpful information and education for children growing up in the faith, rather than as a test someone must pass to take communion. If you wish to inquire about First Communion classes, and your child is 7 years old or older, please talk to the pastor or contact the church office (Sue - 215-332-7424)
